Short shift gears?

Post by Rev2_mike »

Are these 'kits' worth buying? Like this one on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 89986&rd=1
How easy to fit etc - my car could definitely be improved with a shorter gear change

Certainly worth £35, it's not going to make your car faster (might save you a few milliseconds on the gear change), but they're much nicer to use, and makes the car feel more sporty.

hey Scotty

Seeing as you have a Rev1 car (`89-`92/08), it should be fitted with the longer gear knob if it`s still the Toyota factory one, if so then it`ll be the longest shift of all the MkIIs. The Rev 2 onwards have a slightly shorter throw with the stubby knob.

The link above is by far the shortest kit I`ve seen. Hope whoever buys it has good gear shifts as that kit will make notchy shifting boxes hardwork.

Looks nice though....

I've got one of those... very good! Feels roughly the same.. maybe slightly shorter - well thats what I keep telling myself anyway!

Anyway you can't get much worse than the Rev 1 gear throw anyway! lol
