Help - Nearest off the shelf colour to Toyota Mica Blue

Post by Icsunonove »

Just picked up my car from my Dad's (he's been borrowing it) to get ready for the Mk1 Club meet at Mallory this Sunday. Well my hooligan father has managed to properly smash up the front bib spoiler / splitter / whatever you call it thingymagig. :( My car was already a bit scruffy, but now it looks awful.

So have got to undertake a major fibreglass bodge up today (which will almost certainly end up with my hands looking like two small hedgehogs, I hate fibreglass  )

My local Toyota dealer seems to have a policy of stocking nothing at all. And it normally takes them two days to get anything. So I'm stuck for paint.....

Does anyone know whether there is a modern car whose paint colour is very similar to 1988 Toyota Mica Blue?

Thanks for any replies, Tom

Just go into Halfrauds and get them to mix it up for you.....

A bit hit and miss I must admit, once it was almost perfect for me, but another time turned out very purple-y

Just go in with your colour code and they will do it!

Look inside the front bonnet, you will have a plate riveted in place on the side of the radiator. Theres a really long number there, IIRC its the first 3 digits.

For eg mine's 8E3 (mostly  )

There should be a paint shop near you that can mix auto paints, takes 15mins and will give a better match as you can take the colour booklet out and compare. There are a couple of 8E3 shades IIRC.

When I was getting paint from my local supplier (RM paints) I was looking in their colour chart for Toyota cars and it had two plates marked 8E3. One (mine) was Midnight 8E3 IIRC, fortunately I had the car there and was able to take the book out and compare it. Not that it matters with my car as I've got about 6 different shades of blue mica on her now!

Well I've just ordered some 8E3 paint from my local motor factors, so we'll see what it turns out like....

And the guy said it would be ready by midday, how cool is that!

:D :D :D

But I'm not too upset.... A nice man called Megatron John is sending me some replacement splitters in white, so I can have another go!

And to cap it all I damaged my bodged up splitter on the way out of the car park at Mallory #-o
