....they were only dusty. The car had the very best treatment before I bought it luckily so a quick wipe around sorted them. Where there was grease on the body in the engine bay I used GUNK and then rinsed and buffed up. This mk1 is way better than my old one and I paid £300 less.... 
I never had to use any special stuff at all the clean the engine. It's been so well looked after that I literally ran a rag over it and wiped it all off. Car has been garaged all it's life. it makes it all the more worthwhile.... ... Well done, it's a cracking example!

i did the trim stickers all myself for less than £6 and they look almost spot on to the OE ones. I was well lucky with that result.!*much* more tidy than my Sherwood - but at least it should be running again soon, just sorted a new alternator for it

Must have been an optional extra. They've always been on this car as I asked the lady when I bought it off her.....she has been the owner since it 1st rolled off the forecourt.
