Question about semi auto gearbox

Ive been looking at a MK3 with a gearbox problem ,its the semi auto box but it wont go into gear ,is there a common problem with these ,or is it going to be expensive to fix / convert to manual

Conversion to manual is possible, but forget about fixing the SMT box:You'd be looking at roughly £1K min assuming it's just the actuator box, twice to three times that if ECU or other issues.

Before you 'forget about fixing it', there are some common faults and fixes yes.

The most common is covered in the relearn procedure, don't know if it's documented on here but it certainly is over on spyderchat (where there is a vast amount of SMT knowledge) and the info has also been pasted across to mr2roc IIRC
