Mk3 Roadster 3.0L V6 (1MZ-FE) (SOLD)

Post by greglebon »

....otherwise I'll just keep it!
Enough is enough!!

STILL up for reluctant sale is my MK3 Roadster 1MZ-FE 3 litre V6 conversion..... :thumleft:

Due to now having a job requiring a 400-mile weekly commute, I've reduced the asking price to just £3600.

I've worked out that if I drive this to work, compared to my missus' Mini Cooper, I'm £28/WEEK out of pocket!!

So, it needs to go, really....!

(NO silly offers, PX's etc....! )
TBH, I'm getting fed up with timewasters, test-pilots, etc.
I only really wanna hear from anyone who is GENUINELY interested in actually BUYING the car, and has the cash to buy it.....!

Anyway: down to business: :D

The car is a W reg / Y2k car and has just over 74k on the clock.
8M6 blue in colour with black leather interior.
It was converted by Woodsport in 2009 and I have done around 10k in it since.
V5C has been updated with new capacity and engine number.
Tax bracket is the same, as its a pre March 2001 car...

It has the 1MZ-FE alloy V6, an S54 (MK2 n/a) gearbox with the Mk3 Torsen LSD fitted.

As this was the first Woodsport Mk3 1MZ V6 conversion, I dont have the extended Avensis 5th gear, or the Fidanza flywheel options.
It does have the obligatory KoyoRad thick-core alloy racing radiator fitted, though..!

The aircon needs gassing: I told Paul not to worry as we had a deadline to meet, and said I'd get it done, but I've never got round to it, TBH!

It has refurbished OEM 5-spoke alloys (metallic pewter) fitted, Goodyear Eagle tyres and vents colour coded to wheels!
Rear tyres are new, fronts almost new and all 4 brake calipers were refurbished using Toyota parts last summer.

A Cobra quad-exit SS sytem is fitted, and looks (and sounds) great: not too loud, but you know the engine is not stock 1.8!

The interior is basically stock except for a modern Sony Bluetooth / MP3 USB stereo, with hands-free, etc, and a TRD gearknob and dash badge.....
One of Rhon's famous leather gear gaiters is fitted, also....

Tax and MOT till June 2012.
Up till the conversion, the car has full service history: the previous owners took good care of the car, as it was their pride and joy!

I've just fitted new discs all round, along with EBC Greenstuff pads and HEL braided hoses, for MUCH better than stock stopping..!

Bodywork is in good order, there are a couple of tiny "car-park" type dings: one on the front o/s arch, and 2 on the o/s rear wing...barely visible and definitely impossible to photograph (I've tried!)

No rust or "bubbles" (this isn't a Mk1! )

....someone lightly bashed the front bumper n/s in Sainsbury's car park a little while back: I only noticed this last week, and it has lightly cracked the paint in a small place...not worth bothering with, tbh..its on the plastic so its not going to rust.......

Soft-top is in good nick too..not been slashed / repaired etc, anyway...!

Basically car is in vgc for nearly 12 years old...
You aint gonna get showroom condition for this price anyway......?

Its had 3 services with the V6 installed, using Mobil1 synth oil, and I've changed the plugs.
Last service was beginning of September.

Car has covered 10k miles since the swap.

I dont really wanna sell, but I had got to a point where having a little luggage space, and room to take a couple of passengers somehere occasionally, was becoming an attractive proposition! I've had MR2's for the last 10 years now, and its probably time to move on........?
The current job situation is another reason.....

I do have a hardtop / fitting kit / Toyota hardtop tarpaulin / 3-piece luggage kit available separately, if desired....! :thumleft:

Hi,
couple of questions on this..
Could you let me have details of any scratches, dents or rust that are on the car.
What condition is the soft top? Any leaks?
Any thatcham approved alarm / immobiliser - or just the factory standard?
I would not be interested in the hardtop or the black engine cover with spoiler. What would the price be with the standard blue boot and no hard top? (assuming you would want to split them)
many thanks
Michael

That's a cracking price I reckon! You might want to consider advertising it on the MR2 Super GT forum as it would make a great basis for a race car.

Hi Tim!

Well.....I am only making a move on this..whether I'll actually sell it soon remains to be seen! #-o :eye:

Perhaps its too cheap..?!

It owes me £8.5k, after all: perhaps I should re-think...?

If you were to be persuaded to sell the rear wing, how much would you want for the trd. Been after one for my monocraft.

Just curious as to what would the average MPG for this be?

Hmm...if the car doesn't go by September, I may consider refitting the original engine cover....but the car looks Sooo much better WITH the wing.... 8)

I'm getting around 32mpg on my 35 mile commute: not bad for a 3 litre....! :D

Its the 1MZ, and has had a little flow/port work done by Paul Woods during the conversion....probably running around 200hp-ish?

As to cambelt, etc, not done one yet: ask on TwoBrutal for more info... :thumleft:

Theres a fair amount of room round most of the engine:the mk3 bay is deceptively large... :D

Oh..so nobody wants this then..?! :?

Surprising, really......Mk3's are becoming the MR2 of choice, and almost everyone who buys / drives one wants MORE power.....!

This one has 200hp / 200lb/ft torque out of the box, drive-away.....!!

Only £4850.......!

Hell...I dont mind driving it for another year...its hardly a hardship for me, is it...!!? :thumleft:

Right....!
I cannot believe nobody has snapped this up...!?

The hardtop, fitting kit and the rear spoiler could be sold for around £700 on their own.....so do the sums, peeps: you could have a V6 Mk3 for around £4100....!!

If this doesn't sell in the next 2 weeks, I'll just keep the car........

Its really nice! and I am after one but with my budget for the car and insurance this is slightly over. Insurance on just the N/A living where I live is just already £900 and thats with no mods yet. I'm having to put the car under my old man to bring it down and save some money, thats now coming in at £700.
