TOM'S T020.... The real thing....

Post by CardHore »

Guys,

I thought its about time to properly introduce myself and my ball ache of a project... A full on genuine TOM'S T020 Turbo

Ive owned this car coming up to 4 years now, originally in SMG (Steel Mist Grey) and had a few mods to it... I was 19 at the time and insurance back then wasn't much of a killer. I always thought at first it looked different to other MR2's and I couldnt quite put my finger on it, until a front bumper removal and respray laid out the answer, a TOM'S badge was stuck on the inside of it... Over the years my addiction grew to buying TOM'S parts and I knew that not one other true TOM'S T020 ever existed that anyone I or you guys know of... So there was the gap to aim for...

4 years on and I have finally done it... All topped off with a a full body respray in a Toyota 04' pearl grey that shimmers bronze in the sun.

Sure I could have built it sooner if I had the balls to buy replica stuff but the thought sickened me... I just HAD to go all out and source EVERY single part that is genuine on this car, even if it meant waiting 2 years to come across a rear bumper.

I'll admit though, I had some help finding parts... If it wasn't for Oddshoes (Dave) approaching me as soon as he'd sourced a rear bumper and complete skirt kit and winglets, it would not be done as you see it now)

Thanks mate, you'll always be a ledge :thumleft:

Thanks for all the kind comments guys, was kind of a rush to get the car done before JAE, got it done just in time though, just 2 weeks before hand.

Todd, loving the firegaurd name for the rear louver lol, yeah people have different views on it, it is really old school, the opportunity came up and its rude not to finish the car off without the final piece of the T020 puzzle.

I have seen a T020 car here in Ireland, the owner has documents and certificates that came with it from Japan although I'm not sure that it had all of the options you've incorporated in to your build.

There's a lot of rare parts there and it's great to see someone take the time and put them all back on one car. That just looks amazing. Well done.

Absolutely love the colour you've chosen - goes fantastic with the kit and wheels.

At Jae, this car was getting more attention than any others on our stand, I think that speaks voumes.. one big talking point was that rear grill as well James? The colour is great, even better when the sun shines :thumleft:
