Project lost the plot

Post by McWoody »

Hi
Should be picking up my mk2 MR2 tonight.
I was always into VW's to be honest but have always liked the MR2 and after driving one at local drag strip I decided it was the future.
Tonight I am picking up my early MK2 non turbo. Will post pics when I get her.
Got quite a few plans for her but have a little engine problem to sort on her first but for just over 200 for the car I can live with a bit of work.
I'm into my drag racing so see some lightening coming on and aim to have a damn good laugh with the car.
Any tips/advice always welcome.
Anyone supercharged a 16v? as have a charger fitted to the golf I used to run so think it'd be a shame not to use it

Welcome to IMOC Ian, there is just the one supercharged MK2 that I know of and it's in Germany I think. I don't know much about it or even if it's still running. :-k

Most folks will either drop in a turbo lump (3SGTE) as it's easier and cheaper than supercharging the 3SGE or go with a V6. There are a few going with the 2GRFE engine which is supposed to be a bit of an animal.

If your after engine mods, and the engine has a knock, it maybe the time to drop in a v6 or 3sgte :thumleft:

Hi mate and welcome. Nice find you got there....

You got yourself a Rev 2 G Limited MR2 there. The engine you have is a 3S-GE. From late 93 upwards the revsion 3 till Rev 5 had a later designed engine with more power, up to 20hp more I believe, dont fret though. Ive owned early and late N/A MR2's and I always found that the early MR2's have more low end grunt, anyone else back me up on that?

Cheers

Was a bit bored today as weather was naff so started on door cards
Cut out cloth insert and the used it as a template for leather
Image
Image
then foam backed it and marked it out for some stitching so wasn't just plain
Image
the the "nearly" finished article.
Just waiting for some alcantara toarrive to trim main panel and dye to go on leather and its done :)
