it's probably just a couple o brackets that slant the radiator back a few degrees at an angle so the air flows through the bumper mouth, over the rad and out through the border bonnet vents.

Yup that is the one. As far as i know, it will only fit if you have a Border fron bumper.
I have a Bomex and have not investigated if it will fit yet. Have had the kit ages! ](*,)

It's a waste of money, all it is is a load of spacers, zip ties and washers. I had one in mine before changing the cc out etc. All you do is pop the spacers in the bottom of the rad, and tie the rad in a more upright position. RUBBISH!!

so instead of buying i should bodge somthing up my self??
i was jus looking under the slam panel cover and there isnt much room behind the rad fans and the bulkhead, could you not move the fans to the front then you could have a killer angle on the rad??
or use spal fans (although current could be wrong and cause light on dash??)
cheers

I haven't mate, I removed it all when I took out the CC etc. But, yes make something yourself. It really is just a bodge kit with a posh name. :thumleft:

does the kit jus move the bottom of the rad toward the front of the car and top of the rad toward the rear?

Can u replace the existing fans with spals or would i need to use a relay?

Dont know about the border rad kit, but as for the fans, this is a guess here, but looking at the size of the fins on the stock fans, i would say your typical SPAL of the same diameter would struggle to flow as much air as them. Spal do make an industrial high performance range with a similar design, but there expensive and power consuming.

Tbh tho, leave the rad how it is. just make sure your coolant is bled properly and your thermostat is in good condition. the mr2 coolant system is already slightly overkill as it is! people are running 6-7-800 bhp on a stock coolant system!

Hi mate, I got your PM and have just had a read of your thread here.

I had a dig around my computer for photos but couldn't find the ones that I thought I'd taken a while back. However, there isn't a great deal to see anyway, lol.

I had a quick look at your thread and what Chris says is pretty much correct - you should be able to relocate the radiator with a bit of DIY although I was fortunate enough to have Peter at SBITS make sense of the Japanese instructions and hand sketches in the Border relocation kit and do it for me :thumleft:

Basically the spacers lift the radiator up which then alloys you to tilt the radiator forward to a more upright position as the picture in the thread shows. The purpose is to allow more air to pass up through the border bonnet vents.

Apart from what Chris has already mentioned in the kit there are also 2 silicone hoses that are slightly longer than the stock ones to allow them to connect at the front of the radiator once the radiator has shifted. Hope that helps :thumleft:

Wanting to revive this old thread :D

I have recently had a Border bonnet fitted to the Turbo,
and would like to make functional use of the vents to the best of their ability.
Removing the AC soon, and then wanted to move the rad
as mentioned, so that it creates better air flow .

Anyone now got any pics of whats needed to be done,
as I'm sure this is something I could have a go at Tackling.

thanks,

J.

You think the kits the easiest route of doing this ?
guess it saves me guessing whats needed.

Just dont want to be paying loads for easily sourced stuff, but
then again time is money lol.
