Would they work.?

Post by OohMatron »

Hola All,

I've found these on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... eName=WDVW

I own a UK 91 N/A and my rear nearside caliper is shot it, so I thought these might do as replacements as it'd give me the chance to strip 'em down and clean 'em up and then do a straight swap.? Also it would give me some spares.?

Would there be any problems with the age differences.?

TIA for any help.

Stephen.

You'd be better off with replacement calipers that you can do on exchange from brakes international. Though i guess you could rebuild those calipers for a slightly cheaper price, but is it worth it?

Recon kits

Although a bit of a fiddly and time consuming job, why not consider brake refurb kits which you can get from Toyota... or even cheaper from Brakes International I believe. A while back I bought a kit to service my front calipers (a kit will do an axle, both calipers, front or rear) from Toyota... more expensive than BI but I didn't think to call them at the time. In October 2003 the kits varied from £15 - £18.

Basically set aside a weekend just in case it takes a very long time, or the weather's poor, etc and have a go. It's very satisfying, saves you a couple of quid, and in some ways very interesting to see how the caliper parts all fit together.

Here's a How-To;

My front calipers were sticking... not any more!
