MR2 Championship 2005

Post by ribbo »

surprised not to see anyposts about this on the newboard yet but i guess i'll kick it off.

first race is 28th March at snetterton according to the website, i attended 3-4 last season and they're great fun to see some mk1's (and an occaional 2) hooning it around some of the UK circuits.

who's going and who's racing this year?

Yep,

I'm well aware of it! ;) I turned down a free drive, due to life etc... so i will sorely be missing not racing this year. I will do lots of trackdays in an effort to make up for it though.

Well I'm taking my ARDS on 30th March (was supposed to be in February but something came up and I had to move it)!

Quite fancied a go but twincharger sapping my cash atm, plus my head has been turned and I had a little try in an AE86 at the weekend :D

Awesome...a little flick and there go you sideways :D
The one I tried had a nice roll cage in, LSD and a 4agze...very trick.
Bit pricey unfortunately, but I think I'm hooked..

Tbh i've never heard a person who's driven the 86 say a bad word about them. Brilliant cars, spoilt for choice with them over here. Shame about the price though, probably one of the only cars that i've seen that's almost 20years old get over 10k euro!!! Madness!

Considered getting one at one stage, but if I was spending that kinda money on a car i'd be spending it on an FD instead.

I'll be there - I've got a nice little '95 G-Ltd auto that we'll convert to a manual and kit out... Roll cage should be ordered from Japland by the end of the week so I just need to book the 'shop time to get the car ready.

Passed my ARDS a couple of weeks ago and I've got all my gear now so I should be ready to race in plenty of time.

:)

What I didn't realise is they have perfect weight distribution, it really did feel like a nicely balanced car...am going to save a few pennies and try and import a Levin or Trueno...with roll cage, LSD and 4agze :D

p.s. Lauren why not get what you want now? 8)

Anybody at Brands on Saturday - I could only make Sunday :)

(as an aside - the guy in the Noble who set the fastest lap, I have it on good authority, that is a standard M400, which the guy just put the rollcage in and the stuff necessary for scruits - and proceded to blow everybody else away!!)

Isn't that Lee Noble's car though? Besides shirley compared to anything else in roadsports it the noble is way faster? It was last year.

The Porsche 996(?) Turbo was giving it a pretty good run for it's money last season, but both it and the massive engined TVR seem to have vanished.

As for it being Lee Nobles car - that certainly isn't a standard M400 (special gearbox, lots of replacement turbos..), but it hasn't made an appearance in Roadsports yet this year.
