Installing Kenwood Mask Unit

Post by Chicane5 »

Can any helpful types give me a nod as to what I would need to upgrade the factory standard double height unit in a UK '94 Rev 3; to a Kenwood KDC 7070R Mask unit...? Apart from the obvious blanking plate, what else would be required in terms of harnesses/adaptors etc etc...?

Cheers!

Harness adaptor PC9-411 30 quid from most places! Ive just got one but it had to go back beause the rca leads were cross wired, mite need to check that?If youv only got two pre-outs on your unit, youl need a pair of Rca splitter leads(2female -1male)!
Hope you have more luck than what im having at the mo!

Picked up the Autoleads PC9-411 adaptor; however on jacking it into the back of the mask and powering it up, it managed to take out both the rear panel amps with a disturbing 'pop'...Hence had an entire weekend of pain messing about with rewiring everything with new cable, sticking 2 crossovers in and running the speakers directly off the head unit...

Finally got everything sorted, but had to replace the stock tweeters with some Sony ones to deal with inceased power output...All sounding very nice, and the 2 subs are more noticeable now - but what should have been a 5min 'plug and play' job turned into an entire weekend of misery.....
