OC France Daytrip No.2

Post by MrGazz2 »

The MR2OC are once again invading France due to popular demand off the back of the first highly successful event and everyone is invited (as long as you have an MR2!). If you missed the first event, this is your chance to enjoy the sprawling roads through the continent. Words cannot describe the scenery or the roads so take a look below to help make your mind up!

This thread is just to hold the key information and the list of members who are going to attend. If you wish to discuss the event, please post here:

http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=98506.html

The content in this thread is constantly being updated, so please double check all of the details several days before, if there are any issues, please ask straight away to avoid any confusion.

Date: Saturday 27th September
Meeting Point: New service station off Junction 11, M20
Meeting Time: 09:15
Channel Crossing: Channel Tunnel
Departure Time: ~10:10 (Nearest Train to this time)
Return Time: 21:00

Online Ticket Purchase
Here is a step by step on how to buy your tickets on the eurotunnel website (http://www.eurotunnel.com)

1) Click on the link "book now"
2) Set the departure and return dates as 27th September 2008
3) Choose "Folkestone to Calais" in the Going From dropdown box
4) Enter the vehicle details as required
5) Purchase the tickets as seen on the following screenshot:

6) Set your Going out time to 10:20 and your Coming Back time to 21:49.
7) If you want extra travel insurance and breakdown cover, this is your choice, otherwise skip to the next page.
8) On here enter all of your payment details.

On the Day
The meeting point will be at the new service station located off junction 11 of the M20, heading towards Dover as seen on the following googlemaps page:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie= ... 1&t=k&z=16

As before, mr2big will be leading the drive on the French side of the journey as he has done this trip many times in the past. Here is an itinerary that you must have, otherwise you will not be able to travel across on the Channel Tunnel. If you are allowed across, you may face fines if pulled over by the French traffic police. Some of these you should have anyway so it looks like more is there than there actually is:

Compulsory items
Headlamp beam adjustment
GB sticker
Original registration document
Insurance certificate
Warning triangle
Reflective vest

Site Note: Remember to take the payment card you use to buy your tickets on the trip so as to use it for a quick automatic check-in. If you do not have your card, you can still check in, it just takes a bit longer.

Excellent trip last time guys! Not sure if i am going to be able to make this one though.

Maybe look at doing a large combined IMOC/Mk1Club/OC event next year?

Much appreciated with the link , I missed that :)

We have 12 people signed up so far with some who have their tickets already for the tunnel (myself included). As its a Saturday day-trip it wont take up a lot of time for some members that longer abroad trips can do.

An update: Due to the tunnel fires this event has been postponed until the trains are running again. For more details see the thread in the mr2oc.co.uk forums.
