lowered shocks/springs

Post by RussMR2 »

I'v just bought some PI 40mm lowering springs, originaly to fit to my standard shocks but i am undecided now wether to get some different shocks to suit the lower springs ( is it really necessary? )

If i go this route would i be better off selling the springs and getting a new set up, shocks+ springs??
or
just get some new lower shocks to suit the PI springs??

What makes and places??
I am on a budget. lol

i would say not really. ideally, u should be uprated shocks as theyre gonna be under more stress, and it will 'feel' better. But u dont need to. i still have original shocks after lowering and the handling has been good for 2 years now, no probs.

I brought some lowering springs around 110,000 km's, as my factory shocks were a bit worse for wear when I fitted the lowering springs I also fitted some near new (around 20,000 km's) FACTORY Bilstein shocks at the same time. Am now on 117,000 km's and have had ZERO complaints from the car :)

IMO assuming the shocks are in good nick they should be fine.

Cheers
