when ever i take a peep at someones profile and read the spec, im getting a bit tired of reading, samco hoses, trd oil cap, trd pressure cap etc etc.
could this little section be split into 2 parts!
ie, a part where they list mods that actually do increase bhp, and a section where its just for show?? (caps etc).
as when some people look at these profiles including me obviously, im under the impression that these little add ons are actually doing something to the power. but to then realise its not effecting it at all.
its even getting to the point where in the engine mod section people are listing, "silver hose clips, or black cable ties".
just a thought!

Jim,
The profile side of phpBB is just a plain pain in the ass to work with...the current system will not be changing.
BUT....it is being replaced with a much better solution...a custom written just for phpBB car sites solution. And it is going to be amazing. I have been working on it for the last month and a bit now and it is slowly coming together...
I guess it is now at a stage where I can let more people see it. So have a look at the link below.
http://www.13awingfield.com/imoc/forums ... icle&CID=1
We can create categories on the fly now..so we could add engine performance mods and engine visual mods in seconds. Each mod can then have pictures associated with them. Each vehicle can have more than one photo and each user can have more than one vehicle. Cool or what. I still have a lot of code to do but I hope to have this finished ASAP. I really feel it will be a great addition to IMOC and will allow users to really showcase their vehicles.
Regards
Esmond

Good to see you took my advice on looking at the MLR to see how other sites implement this. While your implementation is pretty much identical to the MLR, I think they way they just have one single list is a little less cluttered than having a big title for each sub section.
The MLR just has everything in no particular order but you could easily make the list grouped so that all types of mod are together.

Aidy,
Just so you know this is a port of Garage for IPB forums...
http://www.garagemodule.com/
I personally perfer the way we seperate it out...but I guess that is just personal stuff.
We allow images to be attached to the actual modification which I think is nice. Also just started working on adding quartmile times and rolling road run both with images for the slips if they exist. If you used to have for the old IMOC quartermile times.
The MLR stuff looks nice though personally I prefer the new IMOC stuff...but I guess since I coded it I might be biased. One thing I do really like from the MLR stuff is the events are tied to the vehicle as well. Once we get an events system in place I will for sure do that as well.

So does the MLR system.

That's just something called events, it isn't an event system. Think if it like just another mod category that lets you create entries, comments and upload images, it isn't part of a shared events system. But recording who attended what events in people's profiles probably would be a nice thing to have.

Very...been fun taking code designed for another forum and porting it..fun in a nightmarish way...I think the only original code is some of the SQL!! Sicne all the skinning and language stuff is totally different.

Doh...just checked how did I miss that

Ah....be nice to have it linked to an event system and have the events system handle the photos and such.
