cold idle speed

Post by COOPS »

the cold idle speed on my 92 NA seems a bit erratic..when it first starts it sits at just above normal idle (around 1000rpm) and feels as tho it's gonna stall, but if I drive it 50 yards down the road and stop, it idles at about 1750..which seem really high!
is it an airflow sensor or something on the blink??

as far as i am aware the car should idle at around 1500 - 1700 and then come down to 800 - 900 rpm when warm. sounds like something is sticking when you first start the car.

Have you checked ecu for error codes sounds like air temp sensor or cold start valve

they have coolent temp sensor, i would check that coz i know even if you don't bleed the coolent prop and you av air locks the idle will be erratic..
