Mk 2 NA

Post by Ian »

Right, first things first. Its a 93 Rev 2 NA

I havnt used my MR2 for about 8 weeks, and slowly the battery died, so out it came and got fully charged, put it back in and she starts first time.

Now the problems, lots of warning lights are stying on

Engine Management
Battery
Coolant

Coolant level is fine, I am guessing I need to run an error codes check though, but these light dont go off.

I know the car needs a water pump, but other than that doesnt really have any problems.

I would take it somewhere to be fixed but, it no longer has MOT or Tax, as I dont need the car anymore.

Anyone any ideas

Have you switched it on and off a couple of times ??

Check to see if your alternator belts still on ... often when a car stands, its possible for the alternator to fail / seize, ripping an already perished fan belt off !

Coolant light ?? we don't have one do we ?

Had exactly the same problem on mine with the warning lights staying on. Alternator had seized. Worth checking yours to see if it is still working

the same lights came up on mine a couple of weeks ago and the alternator stopped working. New alternator cost me £165 and that was after ringing around.
