Does anyone actually know the 0-60 time of a standard 2litre FE engined mr2? I've been looking around the web and it seems to vary from 7.1 - 7.7 up to 9.1 seconds... Anyone care to shed some light...
I recently raced my mate in a cavalier turbo and wasn't a huge way behind so i'm thinking around the 8 second mark unless his car wasn't running properly which might well be the case!
Toyota claimed 9.3 seconds in 1990.Autocar tested it at 9.3 in 1991; my auto squeezes in under 10! Once rolling they have reasonable torque and actually quicken as the road speed rises..
Some bona fide road tests
50-70 4th gear/5th gear 119bhp FE 7.8/11 Autocar 1991 154 bhp GE (UK GT) 8.0/12.1 Fast Lane 1993 173 bhp GE (UK GT) 9.4/13.7 Autocar 1994
An auto boxed car engages kickdown for these tests which is why you may see faster in gear times for a 50-70 top gear drag.
Also, this particular discipline is determined by gearing on the car.
To see performace comparisons the 30-70 time would be more appropriate.
As quoted by autocar the Lambo Gallardo 50-70 mph (top gear) time is 8.1 seconds - which would appear to be slowed than a 3sfe engined car - needs to be listed with other stats to be of any worth.
