Clutch & brake fluid for Rev3

Post by stevel »

Evening
I am looking to have my clutch & brake fluid replaced shortly. Now I know you can put DOT 5.1 in for the brakes but can you use the same for the clutch?

I remember reading in an owners manual (can't remember which one off the top of my head) that said for brakes use Dot 3 or Dot 4, and for the clutch use Dot 3.

But I can't really see why you can't use Dot 4 or 5.1.

Sorry, I've not been much help, I'd like to know the answer too :?

It shouldn't make any difference. Personally, I'd put DOT 3 or 4 in as it doesn't asborb water as quickly as DOT5.1.

Given that its for the clutch, it shouldn't get hot - so there should be no chance for the clutch fluid getting hot and boiling.
