OEM Turbo Exhaust - What’s this for?

Post by platmatt8 »

Spotted this on my stock turbo exhaust. Looks like a spot for a sensor is this standard or has someone been playing?

Looks like it could have been for an exhaust temp sensor for a in car gauge. Seen some people run them in a pair to see the difference in temp from front to rear of the exhaust.
Or its to repair a hole???
Im not running a stock exhaust anymore but i dont remember seeing it.

I doubt it’s a repair, I was thinking EGT but the car was pretty stock when I bought it apart from wheels with no signs of previous mods.

Plus someone running an EGT gauge would not be using it on a stock exhaust surly :-k

Wouldn't it be on the manifold? Surely front to rear has too many variab

I totally agree it wouldn't make any sense but unfortunately as the price of the cars has become so affordable younger people are buying them and the "ricer" mods are being seen more and more ](*,)
Maybe it's possible as the car is so stock it was a second hand back box that was removed from a rice rocket to replace a faulty one?
Clutching at straws to be honest tho

Could be a port to atmosphere to 'improve' emissions

That was standard on the rear box from factory.
I've never seen anything put in instead of the bung.
