I had mine rebuilt earlier this year having lost fourth gear on a 'spirited' drive. No warnings, just stopped going into gear :eye:

Also paid a similar amount - but it's worth it to know that it's been done and you needn't worry about it again!

Mine was rebuilt by a local gearbox specialist with Toyota parts. I've still got a box full of the broken bits here in my office

I'm not going to bad mouth the gearbox cause most of the money went to Toyota for parts

That's not a bad price for a full box refurb, albeit you could diy it gearboxes aren't that complex but you do need the relevant preload figures for the numerous bits and some tools you wouldn't normally have in your toolbox.

Too put it in perspective 2nd gear synchro is a common failure on the generation 911 I have and that costs about £2000 to replace the one synchro at a specialist if you supply the gearbox the bill goes up if any more issues are uncovered once it's opened, it's about £4000 for a drive in drive out service and that doesn't get you a fully rebuilt box.

I hope that was a FULL renewal of all parts. Like all parts.

4th gear is the cheap one, think the part is 44 quid. To be charged 1700 is daylight robbery
