IS200 ABS sensors

Post by kirk »

Evening chaps, so I've got a duff right rear sensor and I've heard it mentioned a few times now so I'm just wondering if anyone here successfully used the IS200 ABS sensors on their MR2? How was the fit? How much modification was needed?

IIRC it's the front ones that fit, not the back ones? Not 100% sure.

Kirk, if you decide to go ahead and try this, would you take a few photos of the original and the IS200 fitted.

In that case then I shall invest in a fully functioning used one to test the theory on my bad sensor. I'll report my findings :thumleft:

Kirk would you measure the length and diameter of the original sensor i.e. the part that slots inside the hub.

I can do that. Won't be for a few weeks yet like.

Kirk, I have been reading conflicting reports about people extending their ABS sensor cables with success (off-roading jeeps mainly).

I was thinking that if you do get a IS200 sensor and it is the correct size for the rear hub, then you may want to extend it. Test it first if you do go down that route.

I think the MR2 SW20 sensors are so expensive is because of the extra hardware used to bolt it on. I suppose they may not have been produced for any other vehicle , which increased cost. Who knows?
