[Mk2] [Turbo] Handbrake spring which one is fitted correctly?

Post by killerferret666 »

Since i built the car ive always had one handbrake grip better than the other, I thought it was the load balancing design id done was poor, until yesterday when i saw this.

I presume the one with the spring hooked in the square is correct?

What is the force like on these springs am I going to be able to reposition it with pliers or need a special tool?

I believe to be correct:

arrows on the wrong bit im asking :D but your photo does give me the answer that the other end should be in the square.

Anyone any idea on how strong these springs are, I dont want to ping it off and not be able to get it back on

not my arrow, just a pic found on the net.

They are not too bad, you can move the arm with your hand. Should be able to man handle it into place.

You were on the ball. for everyones knowledge. It was a tight fit to get off and I thought this is going to be a nightmare to put back on, but sure enugh with that little less tension it went on easy.

Handbrake now working equally on both sides
