Any more updates ? Did the car get any more work on the map or is it still the same as when you bought it ?

This is one of about 5 mr2s i'd love to own, more pics wouldn't go amiss

Keep up the good work :thumleft:

yeah been busy with many things, and not really the car tho im making time for it before we move.

Ive updated the mods list/spec

So whats been happening

changed the Motec M4 pro to a link plug and play. After hearing great things about the link, and there also very easy to set up. I actually ended up doing this myself the old motec loom was a bit of a mare to separate, but with a used turbo loom and with telephone help to diagnose a couple of issue the car starts on the button and idles ok. it has a standard MR2 base map, so the 1000cc injectors need to be adjusted. however i plan on sending this to fensport to fit a few parts. mainly electrical. then map it.

Exhaust over the top of the car has been working well on the car for over a year or so now. oil temps are below 100 degrees, normal 90 to 94.

i am on to my next stage(design) of the exhaust, plan to make a new rear silencer i have also fitted 4 V bands to help the quick removal to access the engine bay better.

ive added a support to the Up pipe( Downpipe in the normal application) new flex section over the top of the rocker cover. increased the ceramic wool thickness to 1" from 1/2" (1/2" i could just about touch this after a run.)

Im in the process of building the inner silence where the sound waves bounce around. once im happy with the sound, i will then build and outer case separated by ceramic wool again. hoping to leave a nice shiny out casing that can be touched.

once this is complete, ill look at a screamer pipe set up. side exit was fun, but loud and being driver side it was maybe a bit much.

Also with the extremely free flowing design of the previous set up it was also very loud, people had to walk away on the dyno. haha. ill now be instaling an active tip.

Car is now at fensport

loads of bits being done so the car is perfect.

Cam belt
Water pump
Thermostat
Rewired the intercooler fans into the Link g4
AEM wide band linked to the ECU
aquamist to be set up with flow sensor and then to be mapped for meth injection not just for a safety measure.
individual EGT via canbus to ECU for cylinder mapping.
New boost solenoid
Grade 9 plugs

Was found that the exhaust cam was 1 tooth out. which was nice to hear and would explain the poor dyno graphs

then its mapping!!!

most of the above is done so hopefully it wont be long.

thanks all

Dont have a current picture of the engine bay as i was building and making things right up to the point of setting off for fensport.

However i will find out what the DB levels are soon enough, if i need to lower it then i will look at adding a silencer into the 50mm screamer pipe. The main exhaust silencer i can mod to my hearts desire as i can just remove this section open it up and add deflecting baffles if required or even make it wider, however lets see how mapping goes and see how bad it is. Im yet to hear this system on WOT yet as it was ruining a base map when driving to fensport.

Thanks guys.

No updates really. Maybe mapping this week but that's a guess, I think they ran out of time and labour the week prior to Christmas so maybe in a couple of weeks I could have it back.

Also see they had turbo blankets for sale at fensport so got one of those on.

Fensport took it out this week, had a few small issue with TPS which ended the mapping session. Im told its great to drive normally and up to waste gate pressure, so fingers crossed once its resolved more boost will had.

only other bad thing is it has strong fumes in the cabin which i need to sort.

Getting closer i think. New TPS sensor fitted. AIT sensor swapped.

AEM Afr gauge is now set up as a safety feature

Another small mile stone, i have now owned the car for 4 years, which seems to have flown by.
