Headlight cover adjustment (catching on bonnet)

Post by mrfil13 »

My bonnet is catching on the headlight cover. Can the headlight unit be adjusted slightly to pull it slightly towards the wing?

If you take off the shroud, you should see a couple of bolts either side which can be loosened enabling you to adjust the headlight cover.

1) Remove black shroud via 4 screws:

2) Loosen these four bolts:

3) Adjust lid to it sits flush. This may take a few iterations of trial and improvement - one method is:
a) pull the lid too high
b) lower the headlight
c) gently push the lid down so it's flush
d) raise the headlight to tighten the 4 bolts
e) lower the headlight to check it's still flush

4) Re-fit shroud via the 4 screws

Already played with them. I removed the shroud and cover when I replaced the AC Drier, also replaced the AC Rad and coolant rad so removed the latch as well. Bonnet just seems to be closer to the light cover now.

Had a play today, might have gotten it a bit better.

the bonnet has rubber pads that allow you to alter how close the bonnet closes. Maybe the bonnet is shutting too far and is catching the light covers?

Try adjusting the actual bracket that holds the headlight assembly to the chassis , or the bonnet on the hinges

I did play around with the bonnet but couldn't improve it.

I did try slackening the bolts at the back that hold it to the chassis but couldn't seem to move it.

As a derp i had play with the arm that pushes the light up and down (not when trying to fix it) maybe that pushed it too close to the bonnet, would that affect it the alignment with regards to the light vs bonnet?
