Replacement drivers door.

Post by stecad »

I'm about to replace the door (old one rusted through at the bottom).
I have the skin only and need to transfer over all the fittings onto the new door.
I can see it could be a fiddly job.
I plan to put the new door on first then transfer all the bits across.
Anyone done this before?
Is there anything I should watch out for, or an order to do it in, e.g. glass first, then handles, etc, etc?

Might be a bit late replying now but;

I've done the same, I personally thought it was easier to build the door up off of the car as far as possible - although that could've been because it was cold and I wanted to do it inside. Obviously you'll need to leave the door-card & plastic sheet off until your door is fitted as you will need to adjust the glass.

The door would be lighter without glass & motor etc though!

Its been a while since I've done it so I can't really help you with the best order etc.

The most difficult bit is adjusting the window glass properly if you haven't done it before, instructions are in the BGB: http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2.html ... kbartid=86

I seem to remember two of the directions are the wrong way round.
