Not updated this in a while. Spend some time over the weekend tinkering, and fitting some parts I had accumulated over the winter.

First up, I bought some brand new Toyota fog lights, OEM, and did not want to run the risk of the glass getting chipped by stones, so fitted Lamin X protective film to them. Great product, you would not know its there unless you looked real close.

Next, fitted the new windscreen cowl I ordered from Toyota. The old 22 year id one was pretty weathered and no amount of 'back to black' would make the difference. Its amazing what a brand new part does to the way a car looks.
Image

Seeing as the old wiper arms needed to come off for the cowl, I replaced those with two new ones as well. Old ones had seen better days, stone chips and a bit of rust. May get them refurbished or dipped....keep them as spare.

And then on the best bit of the day. Ever since I have owned the car, around 13 years, the windows have always rattled when half way down. Not really thought too much about it, but inadvertantly fixed it yesterday!
I ordered up two new window seals for the drivers and passenger doors. Again, 22 years of weathering/cleaning/polishing had taken its toll. I could not be ar$ed with restoring them, so opted for two new.
Spot the difference!
Image
The two brown furry bits, clipped onto the trim, had completely rusted away. Am guessing they are nestling at the bottom of the door somewhere. Had a quick look but could not see them.
Anyway, fitted and the difference is amazing. The windows travel up and down so much more smooth, no rattles, and by the looks of it hold the window firmer in position, I reckon this could also be attributed to any leaking T-Bar seals out there.
Image

Finally, I know its strictly not JDM, and more USDM, but always liked the 'turbo' badge. You don't see too many around sporting them so....
Image

Finished off with a clean and polish, took her for a blast, blow out the winter cobwebs and put her back to bed ready for the next sunny day.

Old ones went in the bin mate. They were off eBay, 6 months and they rusted to bu88ery! Past saving, cheap rubbish.

I paid $199 (around £140) posted. Imported from HongKong via Chris Wong on Facebook. He runs DB8 Motorsport, gets his hands on OEM and other stuff.

Although someone posted a link to a site on FB earlier, you can get them from here as well, might be a bit cheaper at $50 per side but add on shipping to that. Bear in mind any import duty on both suppliers.

I need some new window trims! The plastic has faded and no rubber restorer has ever brought them back to black. The furry pads have also rusted away on mine, I found them inside the door panel when removing the OEM speakers. Since the pads were missing I now have scratches on the inside of the passenger / driver window where exposed metal has dug into them when rolling the window up and down...

Did replacing the window trim also help with wind noise and buffering?

I think with a bit of window re-adjustment they may do just that. The windows are tighter and run so smooth.
Last year I adjusted my windows after fitting new T-Bar seals, and a couple of leaks still came through. Now I think I need to reset them.

Really like that Scott, since my engine has just recently been completed, I'm on the same path as you of restoring 20 year old parts.

Last week i ordered RHS and LHS wiper arms £133+
Also new centre console gear surround.
How much were the window door seals and do you have the part number?

Hi mate, I paid $199 which works out around £140.
Got them from Chris Wong over on Facebook, I can pass on his details if you like?
Not sure on part numbers..I have the wrappers still down the garage, will have a look.

Over a year since I have updated this??? Wow..where has that time gone!
Not a lot has changed since then, a few odds and ends done, but main update is she now has a new garage since we moved house last year.

Goodbye single garage...hello double garage! :-)
