Im going to look to start the car tomorrow, been chasing and electrical fault around the car, Got an issue where when the keys are in the ign, the speedo is jumping to 50mph without the engine running. need to sort this out before starting the car, cant be bother with blowing a load of fuses.

Guessing going from a rev 2 body harness to rev3 engine loom then converting it to an aftermarket ecu is upsetting it somewhere, I think my p/s hack could be whats causing it.

Got someone with a multi-meter in hand trying to find the problem. :)

Just read this whole build thread. Was a great read!
Hats off to you grazzy you have built my dream car

I think having the odd electrical/mechanical gremlin is part of the fun owning a car like the mr2!

Great effort buddy and thanks for taking the time to log everything

Ive found the problem, Wiring was correct, speedo has just gone faulty again (3rd set of clocks now) other times have been the RPM's rather than the speedo's, time to make a working 1 out of the 3 units i have,

Thanks for the comments on the build. I'm looking forward to driving it now, I've not driven its since jan 2016 when I ran the engine in. I think tonight is the night for attempt start (this would be the 3rd one. first was no starter motor on key turn, 2nd went to turn engine triggers, noticed speedo issue and stopped)

The powder coated parts look really good. The rear subframe of mine is all powder coated and seeing the front on yours done gives me ideas.

I'm still smashing my head against the wall with this wiring issue. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

I think it must be somewhere in the passenger loom. Need to work out what items on the pass loom have powered items @ key turn to IGN. I get the feeling stray voltage maybe coming from one of these items.

Good news is, Aleast my dash board is out and all trims are removed so it should not take that long.

wiring is finished, Power steering mod before was causing my problem.

Laptop is reading all sensors correctly form the ECU, Going to try and turn it over tonight.

Need to install my wideband, Had to get hold of a relay, I have this now i will turn it over tonight. fingers crossed it turns over :D

got a few other things that need doing, throttle cable needs and adjustment for aftermarket throttle body,

Need to build up the inside of the car, (i.e put dash back in and wire all the gauges back in)

Then MOT

Going to ask a silly question here.... did you powder coat the parts then put in the bushes in or you put the bush's in then power coat as I have heArd that the heat from powered coating can cause issues #-o #-o

got the wide band wiring installed on its own relay, I needed to get the car up in the air, there was another car on the ramps last night so didn't get around to installing sensor, gauge is all working.

With not been able to get the sensor in, I decided that I would do the same for the all of the other gauges and put them on own circuit with a fuse & Switch.

everything is pretty much back in the 2, hit one small stumbling block, waiting for a replacement throttle cable to turn up. Current one does not meet my throttle linkage.

Plan is get this fitted on Saturday. then the car will be ready for its MOT.

Also got a different steering wheel to fit.
