Picking Up Today - Hopefully

Post by cabrioman »

Well, After selling the rev 1 a few years back and moving to Wales (which was a mistake)
Finally got another one sorted. Needs some work but wanted a project to make my own.
Don't know much about the car, (think it's a rev 3?) so expect lots of questions. :D

missing a couple of MOTs in the last 5 years.

Current MT had these advisories...
slight binding OSR brake
slight blow from exhaust at monifold
signs of corrosion around uderside of vehicle
bodywork repairs have been carried out on both sills.

did no miles from 2013 to 2015, was 139k at last MOT and had done 13k since 2014 MOT (no MOT in 2015)

the last one must mean they were done poorly if it's an advisory on the MOT.
Would also make me want to cheak for rust in these areas. winder if last year's lack of MOT was due to rust?

All things worth asking the seller and inspecting yourself.

Cheers, Had a good look and the sills look good imo.
Exhaust is very blowy and the handbrake is laughable.
Luckily it's a project but i intend to bring it to japfest in April :D

Thanks. Nothing wrong with Wales as such, just wasn't for us.

Nice looking MR2. I always think they look good in white. I am just back in a MR2 myself.

Looks like you are down the road from me and where you took the photos similar to my old haunting ground - Langshott/Horley.

Enjoy the new car.

It would be a mistake to move to Wales if you work in Aberdeen.

I'm up for a meet nearby. A few nice pubs around too.
Just have some work to do on her before she's road worthy but hopefully MOT in April and then the jobs can be done while in use.

Car is coming along nicely.
Does need some welding before the MOT :(
Thankfully my cousin owns a garage so it'll be heading there once i finished my bit.
Currently looking into remove the T section and creating a single removable section on the roof. :D
Just need to fit a new exhaust system with my powerflow exhaust, new brakes and service the engine. Then it heads down the road for welding and MOT
Might have it on the road this year fingers crossed.

Don't do it. We did this to a car we scrapped and the front window, well let just say you can push and pull it pretty easily. Plus i'm sure you would need to strengthen the chassis some way or other.
