You hear a million different running in procedures, had my forged motor built at YVS with the same 300 Mile running in procedure taking it upto about 5k revs on the a and b roads. All good so far.
Hope you get good weather for the mapping :thumleft:

Simon actually said "Engine's don't need running in, but if you can its best to do so"
anyway, its all done now, going to do the oil service in the next week, so that
its ready for the 27th with Fensport.

Whilst the car has been sat waiting for its mapping session on the 27th
a pal of mine that works for a very high end race car builder named
Crosthwaite & Gardiner Ltd ( specialise in hand building 1900's - 50's formula
race cars , costing on average 1 million + ) http://www.crosthwaiteandgardiner.com
said he would be able to Zinc plate any rusty metal parts on the car
that are small enough for free.
Mainly thinking of the exposed radiator brackets that hold the new Mishimoto
rad in place and the Aerocatch pins for the Carbon bonnet. But then I got a
little crazy and removed lots of bolts wherever I could.
. Suspension top mount bolts front and rear
. Toms strut brace bolts ( mounting and bracketing ) front and rear
. Body kit fastenings all round
. Engine lid latch bolts
. Rear OEM strut brace bolts
. Spare wheel retaining brace
And a lot more !

Here's a pic of just a few before the Zinc plating.

Image

And a week later James returned them to me all shiny.

Image
Image

As you can see they have made a big difference in bringing the overall look
up a notch. One of those small things that makes a big difference.

Once this was all finished I turned my attention to the simple task of
the Oil and Filter change from the running in oil to Fuchs Titan Pro Race S
10W50 that I used before and will continue to use.

Image

I had taken the rear wheels off to be able to get the rear PP spats fastenings
back in and because the space outside my garage is on a slight incline I used
my Jack to bring the car as low as possible to the ground on the rear once the
initial 4 & 1/2 or so litres had drained. My daily in the background
for Music purposes :D

Image
Image

Sump sat nicely low and bleeding out the rest, along with my top trick of
blowing into the cam cover filler area to remove excess oil along way,
( Trust me it works lol )

Image

However spent a little more time on the removal of the old filter then I should,
This was due to a lack of brain power. Tightened the filter opposed to
loosening, This required much hammer and screwdriver work to fix lol

Image

Anyway all back together. Drove down to the house and let it run for 5 minutes
then checked the level and topped up to the F line. All ready for mapping.

How did mapping go? How's the new map feel? What boost did you take it up to?

Sorry for all the questions

Love the attention to detail with the zinc coating. I wish I'd done that when I had mine stripped apart!

Hi Guys

Right cars mapped and God does it now perform !
Last Thursday I was up at 5:30am ready to leave for Fensport. Drove like
a granny as I have been with the running in procedure and made it in 2 & 1/2
hours. Arrived and was greeted with a pretty nice workshop location.
Adrian doesn't have to travel far to work does he lol.

Image

Met Dan , Tim , Adrian and Tom Hudson who they sub in from Hudson speed
shop. All top guys and invited me into the office to relax. Made the smart
choice of bringing my laptop and headphones and read speed hunters online
and listed to podcasts. They had some very nice cars in, alongside their own
GT86's which as you may know are big builds !

Image
Image

One serious Celica GT4 3s-GTE

Image

Any way onto mine, Tom and Adrian set up all the mapping gear and then
were checking Walton Smith's prior map, Be aware the below photo may
shock and offend those of a nervous disposition.

Image

Yup, Tom jast laughed and said "Ive got 3 of Waltons cars in at the moment"
now I'm no expert as most of you know and I'm learning as I go,
but I'm pretty sure a map shouldn't resemble a water colour of the rocky
mountains FFS ! Look at how it peaks up at the end !

Tom and Adrian asked how I wanted to Launch control to be, when they
mentioned "Pops and Bangs" my face lit up, yes I'm 6. Waltons launch
control just hit limiter but with the new LC setup its like a WRC car on
Anti-Lag ! ill get a video soon :D

Here's a video of Arian and Tom making it ten feet out of the workshop before
having to stop and make the first alteration due to it being way to lean !

Image

4 hours later they were back, informing me that the car drives great and
they were not wrong. Here's the difference that Tom and Adrian were able to achieve.

Image

They both mentioned that it was really the standard injectors holding the car
back from making any more power. they mapped it to 1.2bar but then tailed off
smoothly to 1bar right at the top end before the rev limit to save any damage.
The car drives amazingly and I'm very happy safe in the knowledge that its
running this all now easily within its means. Ill get used to this power and
save for a Garret GTX3076 , external waste gate and a set of SARD 800's
then aim for 400whp.

One little more thing, Took Friday off as well, to take my little bro down to SVA
imports to look at his new potential car.

Image

Image

55k ( Miles ) and brand new import, comes with 12 months warranty, 150 spot
point inspection, 12 months MOT etc. drives lovely and we put the deposit
down until its registered next week, then we can go and collect.

But the best part of this story was discovering one of the best roads I've ever
driven ( B2089 ) and on the way back another ( B2067 ) if you live in the south
east I highly recommend, the "89" is like a race track for 10 miles and the
"67" is tight and technical. Looking forward to running them again soon.
the MR2 was incredible after the map driving these roads !
