[Mk2] [Turbo] Tvis diaphragm leak

Post by Bear87 »

Hi guys so getting through my project slowly but surely. Still have massive overfueling problem quick run down have white smoke from exhaust definitely fuel not coolent and a code 52 knock sensor

Have replaced
Knock sensor and wiring
Afm
Lambda
Cold start injector
Dizzy, leads, coil, ignitor
Ecu (with thanks to rev2rich)
Ecu temp sensor
Spark plugs

So after putting in new ecu runs loads better but still smoked so I took off my inlet manifold small amount of oil inside but is a new built motor so expect small amount of blow by.
However when inspecting the t-vis system there is a huge split in diaphragm. I can blow straight through it.

Two questions here I have removed the flaps inside so can I just block that vac hose to the diaphragm and not use it? And can I block the diaphragm from inside?

Can that leak cause lean running and force the ecu to dump in fuel to compensate hence the smoke?

Thanks chaps

It could well screw up the fueling. If you have removed the Tvis then just block up the vac hose with a bolt or put a proper stopper on the other end.

Having this open means there is an open path into the plenum so unmetered air can take this route.

That's what I needed to know :thumleft:

 let's hope it's the last thing that can be wrong!

Cheers
