[Mk2] [Turbo] Chargecooler temp sensor

Post by markstevieandmads »

Im fitting a gt4 chargecooler system to my rev 2 and was hoping to monitor the before and after temps to make sure the chargecooler is running ok.

What would you guys recommend i buy to do this? Cheap as poss as im on a budget please. Dont mind a cheap chinese thing if i got to replace it every year or so.

Are you running a standard ECU Mark?

Dual thermocouple pre/post chargecooler. You will need to buy some longer thermocouples though so you can route it into your cab.

This single one actually reads faster than the dual but then you would need to of them

Or these look better

However the probes seem quite thick so will block air flow?

I've got a couple of them here, they are alot smaller as they use thermistors which impacts on the accuracy of the unit but for what you want (a visual indication of cooling efficiency it would be fine.

Just trying to find mine now to see how easy it is to remove the steel cap. However after a quick google you can get replacement sensors covered in epoxy like this

Could i not just take off the metal bit of the probe or is this part of it?

Just found mine, looks like it is epoxied into the stainless housing no chance of getting that out. Well not without running the risk of destroying it anyway.
