Glad you chaps are enjoying the build.

People have died of old age following this thread.
Great work on the Lotus abs ecu mate, looking forward to see it in action. Had a look the back end of the car and I have to admit it looks better without the rear wing. Never thought I would say that about a mr2 but it suits the contours of the car better.
Right now get your bloody finger out and get the car finished.

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged
Absolutely flabbergasted by the attention to detail in all aspects of this build. Having (relatively) recently purchased a black rev 3 turbo, I love it but can really see the benefits of the 2GR-FE engine in supercharged or n/a form. Sorely tempted to go in this direction with it in the future. Is this something you'd be interested in doing in the future Paul? Cheers, Ben

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged
Thanks for the kind words, it snowballed into a much bigger project than I had first intended, but it always seems to happen with my project cars, never content with second best.
I think something like this can never be a customer option I'm afraid Kenny, it would cost an insane amount to reproduce, definitely possible but not financially viable.

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged
Some more minor progress, I cut the Evora S exhaust up, removed the centre exit tailpipe and also cut out the boot floor. The exhaust is being hung 2" higher than the original boot floor to allow my rear diffuser to fit and also make it possible to turn this into a twin exit system.
Seems a bit extreme I know, but needs must. The boot floor is going back in, just 2" higher and will now sit flush with the top of the chassis rails.
A lot still to do here and just tacked in place for now before full TIG welding, the exit is on the left side, that will swing around to the centre and split into two pipes that will exit both sides as normal.

By the way, that silencer I just cut up retails at £1232 +VAT , they sell second hand for £750, mine had delivery mileage on it.
I sometimes wonder if this Mr2/Evora project was a good idea!

Woah.. that is crazy. Much respect to you though i'm not sure I could bring myself to cut up a 1k exhaust.

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged
Thanks, yes it's sort of in for a penny in for a pound right now.
Tonight I got the next section tacked in place, this has the pre fabricated Y merge on it, from here both exit pipes will route to the diffuser cut outs.

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged
There are a LOT of bends in that exhaust

I think you can guarantee this car will be a true 'one off' example. It will be legendary.
If Top Gear was in its old format i'd love to have seen this car featured on the show. Stig would have been impressed I reckon.

Actually only two more than stock believe it or not, and they are on the final outlet pipes.

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged
So the basic exhaust tacking is now finished, this is how it looks from above.
From the rear it exits through the diffuser...
The tail section was then detached from the silencer for seam welding, it would be very difficult to weld this on the silencer.
So that will be the system completed to as close to Evora S spec as possible while being twin exit.

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged
So I removed the entire exhaust system for final bracing and welding, it's quite sculptural to look at, or maybe I'm just a sad xxxxxx.
I'm pretty happy with that.
