Magnex Box

Post by SuperRedMR2 »

Hi,

Does anyone suffer from their magnex box banging against the boot floor?

Mine is banging to bu88ery! I removed the heatshield ages ago so it's not that. Will consider packing the hanger mounts in order to lower it a bit or stuff some heat proof rubber in between.

Anyone suffer this?

the exhaust tail pipes do tend to vibrate when the welds come off. which could be causing the noise. But not sure about it hitting the boot. My tail pipes used to hit the body and a new exhaust mount sorted it. Maybe your rubber mount has warn away. Don't think Toyota stock them anymore.

It wasn't the exhaust in the end...

The front torque mount bolts had worked themselves loose and was banging around. Strange though because I replaced the speedo cable at the weekend, even tie-wrapped the outer cable to the mount and didn't notice at all that it was loose. Very bizarre.

Sorted now though.

Hi. I think you may find the magnex for the mk1 has been discontinued.

They were only £300 new, so not that expensive for an exhaust really.

But, last time I bought one was 2001, so as the other poster said, it wouldn't surprise me if they are discontinued. You may be able to find a second hand one.

Otherwise you could go for the option of having an exhaust made for you and then have it made to your requirements. I'm really not sure what is avaialable off the shelf these days.

mine used to do that, i got some slim pencil erasers and put them between the hanger rubber mount and the top of the body, its move things down by under 1cm but stop the bangs and movement.
