[Mk2] [Turbo] Possible loss of performance, Mk2 rev2 Turbo

Post by TheCombover »

Mainly been commuting to work and havnt really taken her for a blast in a while, but today I gave her the beans on the way back from work but when boost kicked in it didn't feel as fast?!

What could cause this?

Thanks,
Patrick

Hi Patrick, a brief run down of your cars engine and mods would help with a diagnosis .. it could be a simple boost leak (are you boosting the same) to running in bad gas mode if its a rev1/2 ...

My car is running a hybrid ct26 turbo, gutted cat, hks silent Highpower exhaust with cut out silencer, aftermarket intercooler, greddy OLED ebc, I always run it on shell v power.

Last time I checked both my gauge and ebc read 15.5 psi. I will double check that tonight.

I'll check this weekend for any boost leaks :thumleft:

Im finding my car is a bit sluggish at the mo but blamed it on the hot weather. Im running a greddy copy intercooler without the shroud so thought that could be it.

Never thought of that, it has been silly hot recently which is not ideal for us turbo people.

But is there anything i should maybe check? Just check hoses for leaks?

Id be turning that boost down to a bar (14.7 psi) unless u got better injectors and a steel head gasket.

Good to hear buddy ... it could be hot ambient temps plus turbo being stressed at 16psi (producing a hot charge) coursing low performance .. anyhoo glad its sorted :thumleft:
