MR2 Turbo (Rev3 Conversion) Absolutely mint...

Post by funky_jumper »

Here for sale is my beloved 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo T Bar. Some of you may have seen this car as the previous owner is a member. This car has been my daily driver for just over a year and I am genuinely gutted I am having to part with it. I have spent a lot of money over the last year getting the car into tip top condition. This car has been my pride and joy and I did have some big plans for it.

In my opinion the only thing the car needs to bring it up to show car standard is some TLC to the interior. I have been in touch with MR2 Only magazine who wanted to feature the car this year, but I have not organised it as now I need to sell it and do not have the time. I would love to see the new owner have the car featured in the magazine, I would still be proud to see it in there!

In the last year I have carried out the following work:
New steel head gasket
New cambelt
Re-conditioned turbo, fitted fuel cut defender and fixed air leak around manifold
Had oil leak repaired around crankshaft (common problem with MR2 turbos that has now been sorted once and for all!)
Four new tyres still with loads of tread on

I'm sure I've forgotten some bits and bobs but I have receipts for all works carried out since I bought the car.

Service in March 2010 MOT until March 2011, Taxed until October 2010

Rev 3 conversion carried out on ECU by Rogue Motorsport. Also had brakes and calipers etc. upgraded to Rev 3 spec.

Current mileage: 61, 982 (will obviously raise slightly as I drive the car every day). Speedo converted to Miles. Mileage is very low for a car this age as the car was only used on weekends by the previous owner and also stood for 3 years while he worked abroad. Full Japanese service history up to 47,000 miles when it was imported. Over 15K spent on modifications by myself and previous owner:

Below is the specification of the car, if any further information is required please call me or email and Ill answer as best I can. The car is absolutely mint, I hope the pictures reflect the fact I have looked after the car really well. The previous owner who did the majority of the modifications had the car for 6 years and looked after it really well. Sadly there are not many MR2 turbos about at the moment that have not been abused. This car is an absolutely stunning example of this hugely underated sports car. The T Bar is brilliant for some open roof driving in the summer, i have had the roof off every day for the alst two weeks!

As the car is my daily driver I have the boost set at a sensible level, however with the manifold set up and turbo the car could easily produce more power if desired. The car is a head turner in every sense of the word and will see off most things on the road. I would also like to say that I am not a boy racer and the car has not been abused. I always let the turbo timer warm the engine down and warm the car up properly as well. There are literally only a handful of MR2's with the much talked about Phoenix Power Front, so if you are looking for an indivudal car this could be for you.

Negative points:

Some wear on the drivers side seat, may need a little TLC (new leather seats were on the agenda for the summer :( )

Couple of small scratches on the windows

Alarm has currently been deactivated as it was very erratic!

Bearing slightly worn on clutch. this is not a problem and does not affect the car at all which is why I haven't bothered sorting. The only downside is there is a noise when the clutch is depressed.

I know most people on here are into the details so I have listed everything as best I can below. If you need any more info just ring or message me and Ill do my best to answer any questions.

PRICE: £3500 BARGAIN! Considering the mileage, mods and general condition of this one of a kind MR2 I think this is a great price.
