Hi,
I'm planning an engine build aimed at mid-low 300hp for my gen2.
I bought last year 4x540cc (gen3) used injectors, a bored fuel rail and a new uprated fuel pump.
I don't know if i should keep these injectors and pay for a cleaning and flow test (80-100 pounds) or maybe getting brand new 800cc sard's for 300 pounds from RHD (It seems they will be discontinued soon)
#63564
brown
lag time 1.6ms
High impedance
In both cases the fuel system will be handled by a PowerFC + Datalogit combo.
I find the Sard's priced really well... Direct fit-in with no need of collars... but i've also read they have skyrocketing impedances and are lazy and slow as hell...
What would you do?
Regards!

Sards are £300 new, and as you say are a drop in fit, will support more power than you're looking for and have been used and proven in many big power builds.
The only other option is to go top feed, as I did
I used a sard fuel rail (£150-ish at the time) Siemens deka 875cc injectors (£200ish), height adapters from efihardware.com (£35), a tomei FPR and gauge (£100ish, I can't remember tbh but it was from RHDjapan) and then probably another £150 worth of AN fittings and hose. And a walbro 255lph fuel pump @ £85ish. That's pretty much the cheapest way of going top feed with quality parts.
You can get a whole top feed kit from ATS racing for about $900 with ID1000 injectors but that's obviously plus tax and shipping and that doesn't include a new fuel pressure regulator.
If I were you I'd buy the sard injectors and save the rest of the money for something else.

Thanks C35Rob!
Do you know if my stock fpr will be enough for these injectors?

FPR will be fine but the pump won't be. You'll need a 255lph pump

Taking this slightly off topic and saving me making a new thread on the topic, what sort of power level do the gen 3 injectors start to hit a brick wall?

I've got one brand new and unused 255lph from Peter... So i guess it will be enough. Thanks!
It will depend about your fueling system components... But it's said you can be on a safe 300+ whp with them.what sort of power level do the gen 3 injectors start to hit a brick wall?

If i remember right JD had ~ 350bhp out of a set of 540's, but that was at pretty much 100% duty cycle, ideally 85% should be the upper limit on injectors, so really no more than 320-330bhp to stay on the safe side

Cheers for that

Has anyone got a link for buying the Sard 800's
