Fensport wheel studs

Post by Alasdair Mair »

Has anyone else fitted Fensport's mk1 wheel studs? They don't match the splines on my standard studs!

no, I bought some for my mk2, foolishly hoping that buying them from a "specialist" rather than from ebay would leave me with something that would fit.

I was rather disappointed when the package came and they were the same cheap 'universal' studs that I could have bought cheaper from ebay.

I tried to fit one, thinking maybe they were a hair smaller than the ebay ones but they would not pull into the hub even with my snap on impact gun on full force.

I emailed Fensport who replied saying

Hi Rob,

These are universal studs that fit all Toyota's. The splines are slightly different due to them being universal. Those customers than struggle to install them by hand use a press. There are no Toyota specific extra long studs available.

Regards,
Dan.

I didn't "struggle to install them by hand", they wouldn't pull into the hub with a professional quality snap on air impact gun, and they don't tell you on their website that you will need to remove the hub from the car, remove the drive flange from the hub and press the studs in

and frankly, if they need that much force then a) they do not 'fit all toyotas' and b) I would be worried about warping the drive flange when trying to press them in.

Aye there's absolutely no way these will fit. The splines are a greater diameter on the Fensport ones. Amazed they sell them advertised as mk1 studs. No mention that they are "universal".

Can you not just get them from Toyota?

Why would they need to be extended?

Because the standard ones arent long enough. Got high offset wide wheels that need spacers to clear the suspension.
