Air filter position/correct/change??

Post by Bentley58 »

Starting to go through the car I've bought and I've a few issues I'm chasing ....I'll cut to the chase, performance air filter routed to drivers side air pod through rear boot. Is this a good idea? Filter does need replacing and hoses too as it looks a tad shabby. So do I re route back into engine bay or keep this idea. Air filter not ideally supported in pod either.

Any thoughts would be great as need to move with this..

The 1b filter was originally in the boot not in the engine bay and has plastic ducting that runs round the boot to the drivers side intake

Ah I now remember. Not impressed with current situation as filter just rests on some sponge foam in intake valley. Ideally needs a bracket or similar to support the filter itself in the intake.

[https://flic.kr/p/wTm9uc I have a external cold air feed on mine, works really well. My scoop is a sealed air box, straight to the throttle.[/img]

Cone filter direct to throttle body is the usual aftermarket way to go. There's plenty of cold air flow through the engine bay.

Either put it in the boot where the old air filter box sits, or put it straight onto the throttle body.

There is tons of airflow through the engine lid from underneath.
