It`s no problem removing the old ones, just do what they say in the manual and make a cut in the metal sleeve, then just tap into it with a screwdriver to get it loose from the chassis mount.

It could be argued that removing a previous installation is a preliminary, rather than a part of the installation itself

The mounts do not seem to be the cause.

I've changed them and bodged another one and its made little to no difference at all.

I have light play in the driveshafts.

The clutch has only done 12k miles and was fitted with a brand new flywheel.

What wheels have you got on the car and what are your tyres like on the rear? If the wheels are after market ones make sure they have the spigot rings fitted so the wheels are centralised correctly

Hi Dave,

I have had the same mk3 roadster alloys for the last 4 years. I am going to get the rears looked at for roundness though but it'd do it under braking and at cruising speed if it were wheel related.

Time to update this.

It was the long driveshaft.

I've only just replaced it.

I've had a similar problem before. I managed to get rid of the vibration by removing the wheel, caliper and disc then cleaning up the mating surfaces with a wire brush (they were rather mucky / corroded). So hub, both sides of the disc and the wheel flange.

It's free and relatively easy. While you're at it give the bearings a check, you could even pop the shafts out, apply some grease and re-torque.

I don't think it was anything to do with that, bent shaft, not bearings.

I replaced pretty much everything trying to find the cause as well!
