[Mk2] [Turbo] new radio error. Xtrons TD714SG

Post by kurkjones »

Hi
As above that radio won't work in my Rev 1 turbo, any specific reasons anyone can think of?
There is constant power coming through yellow wire as should. Ignition makes power come down red wire as it should. And black earths itself as it should.
any ideas what's causing it not to get power to turn on?

What radio do you Have ?

If it is getting power and is earthed properly then does the head unit have a built in fuse ?

It's in title.
Xtrons td714sg - 7" double din touch screen etc.
It's got a fuse near where you plug the loom into

When did you last have it working ?

I presume you checked the fuse ?

If that's ok and all the cables are fine then it has to be an internal fault with the unit surely ?

I would remove it and try connecting the + and - directly to a charged battery just in case it's a wiring issue :-k

Don't forget for the screen to come on there is another cable that goes to the handbrake so it only comes on when handbrake is up.

Most people just earth this cable.

I've never had it working. Only just purchased it second hand but it was installed in an mr2 previously.

I did read something about it being earthed via a switch through handbrake but thought that was only if you wanted the dvd option on... Maybe should look into it.
Will also try connecting straight to battery, thanks all.
If anyone has other ideas please share, :)

Have you just tested it holding it in your hand?
If so connect it all up and bolt it into the dash so it can earth through the mounting cage

if you bridge the switched and always live together, test it directly to the battery with the earth to the negative will rule out if it's faulty or not.

have you checked the fuse on the system if it has one.
