TRD leather gear knob

Post by Rossi »

TRD 5 speed gear knob, bought from RHDJapan, this is real not fake. Can screenshot my order if anyone is in doubt.

I bought for my mk2 rev3 but later found out it only fits mk1 and mk2 rev1 due to the ridge on the rev2+ shifters.

If you look at this picture, it will fit 1&2 but not 3&4 due to the ridge stopping it from screwing on.

You can fit it on the rev3, just take the black plastic ring out from the gaiter leather. It will fit on then, I did the same with my rev3.

My leather gaiter is aftermarket so I no longer have the black plastic bit. The knob wouldn't go down far enough for the threads to engage.

The threads don't start until about an inch inside of the knob and the bottom hits on the metal part of the shifter :(

Was yours a real one? there are lots of copies on ebay that apparently fit.

On the rev3 I found mine had a metal ring pressed on the shaft which would need to be removed.

Well I've ordered a new one now anyway, so this is still up for sale.

I found this with my one and had to buy the 'ball' knob instead, not as good but that's all you can do with it.

Mine could have been a copy.
