Which clutch kit?

Post by pkmr2 »

Hi All

I have a pretty standard rev3 tubby and my clutch needs replacing now.
I have had a quick look around shall I just replace with standard clutch kit or get a greddy made one or upgrade further (I'm guessing stay with a standard set up?)

Best place to pick up from mr2ben,fensport,gtschris??

Thanks
Pete

Best clutch would be a clutch that suits your purpose for street clutch go for the most softest comfortable clutch out there that can handle the torque go for stage 1-2.

If its for track or drag racing then go for a hard heavy clutch stage 3+ i got a carbonetic clutch costs are stupid money £2000+ but can handle 1000lbs+ makes lots of noise and sounds like the cars got gearbox problems its just the clutch i only went for that because the clutch was quite light compared to the others but i love it launches and gear changes on this clutch are crazy good.

Genuine Toyota stock clutch. If you don't rag on the car and aren't going to race it, a stock clutch is perfectly suitable. If you buy aftermarket, do get a genuine Toyota throwout bearing. Some of the bearings used in aftermarket clutches are rubbish.

I ran 12.8 @ 110mph on my stock clutch in my '91 turbo with bolt ons for an idea of what they can handle.
