My 99 MR2 GTt

Post by oVerboost »

Been browsing the forums for a good while now, signed up recently and thought I would post up some pictures of my car.

I bought the car by chance after finding an advert on eBay, it was a 2 owner standard Rev5 in black with a T-Bar roof, full Toyota service history from new, folder full of receipts (every spare part bought was from Toyota main dealer apart from the exhaust which was a stainless steel system which the owner said was the only non standard part due to the cost of the standard backbox). He had owned the car for the past 10 years and it lived in his garage, and used only on dry weekends and for a few holidays across Europe.

I have always liked MR2's and due to buying a house and selling the last car (Nissan 350Z) I wanted something fun, cheaper to run and insure. The MR2 ticked all those boxes, and after a test drive and a good look through the folder full of history, the car was mine.

I have kept all the standard parts, and over time made a few subtle modifications.

Anyway, here's a few pictures...

Never seen the likes of those wheels before. You take a cracking photo though mate. Is it a turbo...?

Theres only currently a handful of these wheels sold, and none of the others are in Jap fitment so they aren't the easiest wheels to get onto anything that isn't VAG fitment, but I wanted something different, and in the end I am happy with the end result. :)

No it's a n/a - I did consider a turbo but wanted one that was solid, with a certain spec and this one came up so had to buy it. I've had a fair few high powered cars in the past, and just wanted something that looks nice and is fun, but who knows maybe a turbo conversion is something I'll consider in the future lol.

And thanks for the photo taking skills comment, I am afraid I cannot take the credit though a friend took them and she is a photographer.

They're 8x18 fronts and 9x18 rears, all arches rolled professionally and no issues with any rubbing and no lack of full lock etc. They do look bigger though due to the low profile tyres and the design I think.

Only a small update, today I fitted my new B&A Quickshift which has made the gear change feel a lot better, I've also re-fitted the standard airbox to replace the Apexi induction kit that I had on there for a few months but felt it ran better before so switched back.

Also ordered up a service kit (all genuine Toyota) so will be fitting all that when they arrive ready for winter. 8)
