From the EPC the Mk1a has a different part number to the Mk1b. The SCs look the same as their a/b chassis.

06/84 - 06/85 na - 43330-19036
07/85 - 07/86 na - 43330-19037
08/86 - 11/89 na - 43330-39135

1985-86 sc - 43330-19037
1986-89 sc - 43330-39135

No difference between countries.

There's a difference. If I recall correctly the mk1a ball joint uses thicker bolts. I ran mk1b joints on my mk1a accidently for two years (before switching to mk1b suspension) since they came with new bolts and I didn't noticed they were thinner.
