Re: sprint series
I could enter in my GA70
IMOC-UK - the only club to win 'Best Club Stand' at JAE more than once, and twice in a row!
Re: sprint series
Do it; you'd have loads of time to think about your lines and be as smooth as possible

And have a little nap at the wheel once I'd done that!

Re: sprint series
I'm booked up for Woodbridge. Hotel booked for Blyton, but not the event yet.
Will be interesting to see how you compare with the RRG Macc Celica (if they get to Woodbridge) and also the GT86's.

Doubt I'll be competitive the first time out but as long as I enjoy I don't mind

Re: sprint series
Might come down and watch at Woodbridge, depending on where I am as Imight be in Suffolk at the time
I'm eyeing up a suspiciously cheap KP61 on C&C but I just don't think I'll be sprinting until next year.

Re: sprint series
I wanted to but mods push it up to A1 which require a cage. I don't really want to cage it and I feel like I wouldn't be anywhere near competitive in that class going up against purpose built GT-Fours and the like. I'd rather get something more basic and work my way up the classes I think.

Re: sprint series
Looking at the regs, having a turbo that isnt based off the oem turbo puts you in the top street class.
Re: sprint series
Yup :/
I want something totally stock to start with and just upgrade it within regs to run it in a class where it will e most competitive, rather than just dumping money into a fast road car that still won't put in competitive times.

Re: sprint series
Sucks, I just stuck a TD05-16g to replace my failing CT20. Whilst its not much bigger, it would still put me in the same position.
Eh I still need more time on track in general so i'll just stick to trackdays.

Re: sprint series
I noticed some TDOs do 'sprint days' which are in the format of sprints but in a run-what-you-brung style a la trackdays, cars grouped into just a couple of basic classes - a slightly cheaper alternative to trackdays and a good way of using your car on track without other traffic. It would be fun if a few of us with similar setups signed up for one and had a bit of competition going between ourselves

Re: sprint series
Hmm, pity about your car not fitting the regs. Don't blame you not wanting to put a cage in it, plus you'd be up against a stripped out mental power Celica.
Much better to go in the street classes. For exampe my main competitor and I have agreed on running the same tyres to make it as even as we can. It's much more fun when you've got someone to compete against that you really run close with. That's when it gets pretty exciting.
Have to say I'm loving it. I think I did miss the competitiveness I used to enjoy as I haven't raced since 2006. Trackdays are good fun, but I'm really on fire for the sprints and I think it has helped me get my driving back on good form.
It would be fab to see some more MR2s out there.

Re: sprint series
This is partly why I'm tempted to get a cheap crappy Yaris or similar - it'd be a lot of (very cheap) fun and still competitive in its class, and the lack of power would mean I'd have to learn the best way of carrying speed and momentum to eke out any time savings. Plus a quick search reveals plenty in the way of cheap upgrades to suspension etc. I'm really tempted...
