new spark plugs... dealer or that place in the retail park..

Post by Nimbus »

Cleaned all the oil from my plugs and in between them today, and to be honest they are on their last legs !

Oh, and one sadly 'died' when I removed it, well... I'm not that mechanical, and they just didnt want to come !!

Any idea the best place to get some new ones, and the likely price ?

The book recommends NGK BCPR6EY11

Available from your local Halford's for around a tenner......or

you could go for the high performance Denso Iridium IQ16 (on US Fleabay for around £20)

You can get Denso pre-gapped plugs from your dealer for no more cost than NGKs.

I went to mine and he had 3 sets which he sold to me at 45% discount as they had been sitting on his shelves for over a year. that worked out at £24 (inc VAT) for 12 plugs! So enough for 36K miles.

Car runs :thumright: on them too.

Hi Lauren,
thanks for that :) I saw your bargain when I was searching :)

Reminds me of when I had my first '2 back in the early 90s and wanted a Toyota original towbar... I got it for about half price as it was the only one they'd ever had in stock and never had any interest in ! Car towed brilliantly with it to :)

but... the totyota dealer here is only about 5 or 6 years old, do you think they'll even have any stock for a mk1 ?

just pop down to your local motor factor they will do you some cheaper than Halfrauds.Any good quality plug will do,dont go for the mega expensive, super space metal ones. The only improvement will be in the makers profit margin.

They do get more stock since they open you know! ;)

Or they can just order them in for you.
