Hi people just purchased a E reg t-bar from a relative, the car has been raley used in the last 4 years so the mot was outstanding, having failed the MOT on the front drop links either side, i went to purchase some from my local parts people, got the shock of my life when i was quoted 58.60 +VAT FOR EACH SIDE , is there another cars ARB links that are similar that can be used to accomodate for the MR2's? as i know the average cars should come in around 12-18 pounds at the most.
any help would be appreciated

Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
A while ago a MK1 club member contacted me and said that he had found some Vauxhall links for around £25 a pair. The only difference was that the threaded section was slightly larger requiring the MR2 brackets to be drilled out to fit. Sorry, can't remember which Vauxhall model they were for.

Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
twosrus.com $99 a pair or twosrus.co.uk (don't know the price). Best links you can buy for the MK1 IMO.
Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
IIRC they seem to go for £24 a side on ebay
Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
yep the twosrus ones are good, i have them ,but you can use fiesta or escort mk5 ones and modify them.just cut the shaft to length and weld back together.these are about £15 a piece.as far as i know there are no direct interchangeable parts out there.
Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
on a slightly different not here for a moment, I was told by a couple of people that there not a mot failure anyway. You could take the anti-roll bars off and chuck em away if you wanted, because they don't play a major part in the suspension. Just a thought.
Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
yeh that was my thought as well.i would ask the testing centre to see the section in the mot bible that tells them its a failure.EVERY test centre will have a copy of the regulations that is available for public viewing.at least thats what my mot centre told me when i asked questions about roll cages and seat belt fitment.

Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
Very definately an MOT failure.
However, I remember using MK5 escort ones (I think) a couple of years ago - Same length, but the balljoints were both facing in the same direction.
One pipewrench, and quick twist through 180 degrees et voila!
Now thinking of getting a mate to knock up some with rosejoints (a la twos'r'us style) but without the pricetag!

Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
Did I here on another MR2 site that Paul Woods makes custom ones as well far stronger than originals? Also are the twosRus ones better made and stronger than originals. Since my front suspension has a knocking noise when the wheels are on full lock in reverse and it was suggested by, a few people it would be drop links. Also any idea how much they would cost to fit since I am not mechanically minded.
Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
The Vauxhall ones are Senator 1990 ish I have them on mine, had to drill out the strut mount hole and roll bar to a larger size but otherwise fine £10 each
I have the part number some where will try to find it and post it up if anyone interested

Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
Silly question but how difficult is it to change the Front drop links myself since I am not that mechanically minded. I presume it is just a case if jacking car up taking wheel off then unbolting it and replacing drop link then put wheel back on.
Also a surgestion of a good place to put the trolly jack would be usefull to.
A good description of how to do it with pics would be good if possible please [-o<

Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
probably not much but as the link from the anti roll bar to the suspension it will upset the handling you could even find yourself visiting the scenery anti roll bar does what is says on the tin realyOut of interest, if a drop link fails what damage can it do to the car?
Re: Anti roll bar drop links!!!!
I fitted th Sbits ones from twosrus.co.uk on Friday along with KYB's on the front (need a complete rear suspension unit before I can do the rears).
The vibration I was getting through the steering wheel has subsided a lot The knocking I was getting is now gone And the car feels 50% better already...
