oil filter size?

I went to get an oil filter for my car yesterday but apparently(according to halfords) there are 2 different sizes available, one being 76mm and the other being 90mm!

Any idea which one i'll be needing?

is it just the depth of the filter that is different, or are the fittings different as well?

Dont go to Halfords.
Buy a genuine Toyota one!

You want part number 90080-91045 (short filter)
They only cost £7

I use the halfords HF230 on my supercharger and they are £5.99 I think so not much difference so if your near a toyota dealer go for the toyota one (I go for halfords as its a 30 second drive and I change it every 3 weeks at the moment as I do about 1000 miles per week and having worked for them many years ago I know there stuff isnt so bad as its made by one of the large OEM manufacturers anyway) if toyota was nearer I would go for that one but its not so I dont.

you can use either filter.

generally on na use shorter one
on SC use longer one.

incidentally the oil filters are the same for the 4AG and 3SG engine.

i use a Ryco Z386 which is the smaller version of a Ryco Z158.

i havnt used a genuine filter in the past 10 years, and dont intend to.
