MR2 V6 Turbo - 3.5VZ-FTE EFR 9180

Post by iecku »

Hey guys

I just want to introduce myself. I am Heiko, 28 and working as an designing engineer in the aircraft industry and i have my own company for mapping and development of special parts for motorsport. I own my Mr2 since 2003 now. Its absolutely my dreamcar in case of tuning and motorsports! :-D

My actual eninge setup is roughly that:
3vzfe
ported heads
custom manifolds
customized blitz nür spec r (3,25" after turbo)
gt35r with ported shroud and twinscroll housing
twin tial mvs wastegates
synapse dv bov
custom water intercooler
e153 gearbox
RC 1000cc injectors
2x 044 bosch pumps
running e85 as fuel
megasquirt ms3x ecu
custom oilsystem

I play with the though to make a limited kit of my setup. I don´t have an actual dyno, but at the first dynosessions it pulled 360bhp/460nm with bad ignitionproblems after 5000rpm (<- thats were the fun begins). I actually running it at 0,8bar with no problems at all, it fully revs to 7000rpm and it has a really improved ignitionmap. I think it will pull around 420bhp, but we´ll see real results at the booked dynosession in the end of octobre. The actual mapping is just a streetmapping, but i am still racing with that without any problems. Its an extremly torquy engine, not compareable to an 3sgte with the same power.

There is a lot to do in the winter. I will fully rebuild engine with custom forged internals, other valves and cams, and definitely accusump, cause i have oil starvationproblems in right turns above 1,3g´s. I´ll add a custom fabricated flat carbon underbody with front splitter and rear diffusor (currently working on the forms) and a change of the stock lsd to a cusco 1,5way differential.

I hope you enjoy my build and i´d like to know, what you think about it.

Greetz Heiko

P.S.: I would like to post some pictures and videos, but why ever it isn´t allowed to me. Just look for the youtubechannel of "iecku"
Perhaps somebody is allowed to post some pictures of the build. Just look at photobucket...also "iecku"! Thx :-D

Welcome Heiko :D

I've just taken a look at your YouTube channel and the car is a beast! Caribbean Blue too :thumleft:

You have to make 15 posts before you have the ability to add photos etc. So take a look around the forum, speak to some people and then come back and show the world your creation :thumleft:

good advice! yeah the creation is more a prototype in the current state, but for this state it is suprisingly reliable. Tomorrow is the next trackday. Hope to get more good datas to analyse and have a lot of fun!

no problem psummers! these are not the newest pictures, but you nearly can see, what it is like. 245 35 18 on the front and 265 35 18 on the rear, d2 track racing suspension, trd struts and sway bars, pu suspension bearing or how you call it in english, the wheel alignment i tested and modified over the years, d2 slotted 330mm 8pot in front, stock big brake in the rear with custom pads made by carbotech (best pads i ever had, please forget the ebc s**t ;-) )

I have 245/35/18 as the fronts (275/35 on the rear) on my car and they rub. Have you had similar issues?

I completely agree about the Carbotechs, they're awesome. Although they make so much dust!

I had tho increase the height by 1cm due to more grip of the tyres. Since that no problem at all. But i modified the fenders in front and rear as much as possible to get some room for this tyres.

I use the xp20 on the front and the xp12 on the rear. The pads aren´t good to the discs, but they really brake. If you look at the disccolor i good some hot sports on the front discs and the rear disc must have been glowing. But there was always more than enough braking power. But i´ll need to change to another big brake kit on the rear in winter. A friend of mine imports xyz. Its the same like ksport and d2 (same fabrication facility and distribution), but he can make much better prices, due xyz isn´t so well known in europe. I think there is much more dust on the rear wheels than on the front. But it is more a funcar for me than daily, so dust isn´t an issue. I also love the noise, when the pads are on temperature...as i said....funcar! :-D

 Very interesting car. I don't suppose you have a build thread on a German website do you? I'd love to read the details of how this was achieved :D

Do you find the 245s good for grip? I've found them to big a little too big, so I'm replacing them with 225s instead.

We appear to have the same engine cover too

The 245 give very good grip on the front!!! I am using the federal rsr tyres. For my purpose, mostly trackdays, it is the best combination. ok, the front tyres need one or two laps more to get the same temperature as the rear tyres, but from this point is the balance perfect! some years ago, i drove the mr2 as an four banger n/a with dunlop dtc 235 slicks and that was a weapon on the track compared to this 220bhp the built engine had made. since there it was clear that perfect front grip makes the mr2 fast, because it only oversteers controllable in opposite to this undecided over/understeer weaving it does with the most combinations like 215/235 when driving it hard. it is my driving style and my opinion, but it showed for me to be the fastest way on track.

Last weekend was not so successful at all. The guy who should transport my car, canceled our date, quite short before leaving. To satisfy my will to drive the car, i simply got some "testing" licenseplates and enjoyed the last days.
