Rev 3 V6 in Ibis white, Price Drop

Post by J05MA5 »

Toyota Mr2 MK2 3VZ-FE

Rev 3 N/A Import, Tin top

I’ve owned the car for over 2 years now, within this period it has had thousands spent on it and many hours and late nights.
It started life as a 3SGE Rev 3 import, purchased from Barronmr.
The engine was then removed and I then began a 3VZ-FE conversion, the list of parts below speaks for itself, there has been no expense spared.

The aim for the car was to have reliable V6 close to turbo power without the surge of torque as the turbo spools. Everything has been aimed at making the car good for fast road and occasional track use.

Whilst underway with the conversion there were a few questionable points on the body work, I then decided to have a full respray. It was completely stripped as shown in the build thread.
http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/showth ... t-3vz-Swap

As the car is at the moment, it is close to a fully complete project, the only other step would be to add the supercharger kit and go for standalone management, or use the nitrous kit that is installed to bring it close to 300hp (the nitrous has never been used but is a complete kit, can be included at extra cost).

The reason for sale is that with me going back to university in September I will no longer be able to afford running two cars and the extortionate insurance premiums of £2400!

Below is the spec:
  • Lots of history and receipts from initial registration in Japan.
    Tax – 30/11
    Mot – 02/12
    95280 Miles (May increase)
Still registered as a 3SGE on the Logbook

Car looks stunning :)

For the record though, the V5 still only showing it as a 3sge means technically you will have any insurance claim voided, plus the police could class the car as uninsured if they realise it has a V6 engine.

You will need to have a garage or the garage who did the conversion actually write a report and send it to DVLA so the V5 can be changed. They are somewhat unamused to know its getting taxed as a 3sge when in fact its a V6, so be very aware that they may inform you to remain off the road till the V5 has been changed by them.

A friend of mine had this headache when he bought a V6 conversion.

It may well still be the same, but DVLA willl state the car cannot be on the road if the V5 is not correct and that will be the same situation with the police should they stop and check the car for any reason. In fact the police will sieze the car even if he has it insured as a V6.

DVLA has its own rules and they can do what they choose if the paperwork is incorrect.

New DVLA Engine Conversion Rules Reciept of purchase from a garage,on headed paper confirming the engine number , size(cc) the fuel type for the reconditioned or replacement.

If your existing engine has been converted i.e single turbo, written evidence on headed paper from the garage that carried out the work.

An inspection report from a body such as RAC or AA.

An inspection report provided for insurance purposes.

And a writtn confirmation from the manufacturer containing the engine number and size!

Thanks for the kind words :D ,
At the moment the car is insured as a V6 but just havent changed it on the log book as yet.
If the new owner would require a report that wouldnt be an issue at all, I'll provide that with the sale and also complete the transfer on the logbook if required :thumleft:

Yes it wouldnt chage the cost of taxing it.

Im sorry kerry, is there really any need to quote dvla regulations? if ive stated that it will be rectified before the new owner purchases the car, this is a for sale thread after all.

I posted the regulations prior to your statment that you intended to rectify the V5 prior to sale. Secondly, you were obviously not aware of the legal standing of your V5, so not only did i do you a favour, but saved any new owner a lot of hassle.
Although I now wonder if your only upset at the fact the V5 issue has been highlighted at the time your trying to sell [-X

And your correct, this is a for sale thread, therefore the relevance of DVLA, and its regulations regarding undeclared conversions are somewhat important to any potential buyer.

Whatever the case, as I said, stunning car, good luck with the sale :)

Yes I completely agree that the new owner should be aware of this, being the reason I stated it in the advert.

No not the reason at all, personally I didn’t want the thread turning into a debate over an issue I have previously stated, like many other honest for sale threads I have seen on here.

Regardless of this I have stated that the V5 will be changed for the new owner as required and thanks again for the kind words, it has taken a lot of effort and many years to get it to the current condition as you can appreciate :thumleft:

Just a quick update, the car is currently having a DTA ecu fitted with supra 440cc injectors. Once complete it will be ready for forced induction, that is if the new buyer wishes to do so .
